This premium assistance can be a valuable benefit, using Medicaid or CHIP funds to cover some or all of your premiums.
Eligibility Check: Premium assistance is generally available only if you or your dependents are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP and eligible for coverage through an employer.
Already Enrolled? If you're already in Medicaid or CHIP, contact your State Medicaid or CHIP office right away to see if premium assistance is available where you live.
Not Yet Enrolled? If you think you might qualify for Medicaid or CHIP, contact your State office or visit www.insurekidsnow.gov to apply. If you qualify, ask if they offer premium assistance for your job's plan.
Special Enrollment Right: If you or your dependents are determined eligible for premium assistance, your employer must allow you to enroll in their plan—even if it's outside of the regular enrollment period. This is a "special enrollment" opportunity that you must request within 60 days of being found eligible for the assistance.
